Safety Protocol
Here at Baby Oasis, the safety of our future generation is our priority, and as a result, only certain products can be purchased secondhand.
What items can be reused?
We highly encourage you to donate any pre-loved children's clothing (as well as shoes!) and books, as long as they are in good condition. Not only does this save the environment, but it also helps improve the livelihoods of underprivileged children in Hong Kong.
What should I watch out for?
If you're thinking about donating toys, make sure there are 1) no loose parts; 2) no signs of battery corrosion; and 3) no chipping or peeling paint. For baby carriers, make sure there is 1) no wear and tear; 2) properly functioning clips, rings, and buckles. For highchairs, make sure they are 1) not too old (like > 10 years old); 2) stable with a five-point harness and crotch guard. Strollers can only be made after 2015 (and of course, properly functioning!) and cradles after 2013.
Are there any items that cannot be reused?
Yes, unfortunately! Car seats, crib mattresses, and breast pumps are unfortunately all no-nos because of safety regulations.
What are the tips to follow for using secondhand items?
Make sure to disinfect all items for good measure! For example, wash all items with soap and warm water/bleach. Also make sure to check for product recalls just in case.
